Dear PICE Members,
On behalf of the PICE National Board of Directors, I would like to convey our greetings to all Engineers especially the Filipino Civil Engineers on the celebration of the World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development 2021 today, March 4, 2021. The day is focus to celebrate the engineering successes around the world and the great impact made by Engineers for a better quality of life.
Engineers play a vital role in attaining these Sustainable Development Goals such as Clean Water, Sanitation, Economical Clean Energy, Innovation, Sustaining Lands and Oceans, Resilient Infrastructure, Sustainable Cities and Communities, among others. These are just some of the global challenges identified by Engineers to ‘Engineering for a Healthy Planet’. The determination and efforts on the achievement of these goals will not be successful without the Engineers. They are essential to come across these challenges of sustainable development of mankind and our planet.
As the popular tag line of the civil engineering profession goes, “civil engineering is all about people”, I hope and pray that we would celebrate this day inspired and with vigor. Let us responsibly work professionally with competence to make this world a better place for this generation and the generations to come. Likewise, we should encourage more young people to join the engineering field for as it said – “If you want to change the world for the better, become an Engineer.”
As PICE celebrates this Day, its 105 professional and 210 student chapters in the country and 12 International chapters are joining the global engineering community with projects and activities. I humbly urge our members to cooperate and participate.
I am wishing you all a happy, a healthy and a holy celebration! Mabuhay ang Filipino Civil Engineers!
