PICE Announces VISMA Program

The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers announces its Virtual Internship of Students via Mentoring or Apprenticeship (VISMA) program to help the civil engineering students continue its learning in the new normal.

With this, PICE is looking for PICE members to volunteer and become a mentor to student groups. The list of this PICE VISMA Mentors will be submitted to CHED and schools for them to include the VISMA program.

The program will be an alternative learning activity and a substitute to our conventional Practicum or OJT course in the Civil Engineering curriculum during this time of pandemic. Guidance is provided by a PICE mentor, an experienced person and a new system of training a new generation of practitioner. The set-up will be a work from home scheme wherein mentors may orient, show, lecture or discuss professional practice or work with the students thru online platforms.

The concept of the program is for professional engineers to share their work experience and professional practice to students. The learning activity shall be a supplement to what students learn in the curriculum.

PICE volunteer-mentors as frontliners for Civil Engineering Education during this time of COVID-19 pandemic under the new normal shall earn recognition from PICE and credit units under the PRC CPD program.
