PICE celebrates World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development 2021

The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers will be celebrating the World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development on March 4, 2021 as declared and adopted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

This is to highlight the achievements of engineers and engineering in our modern world and improve public understanding how engineering and technology is essential to modern life and sustainable development. The celebration of World Engineering Day is also about promoting engineering as a career and how it is an opportunity to change the world for better.

PICE, being one of the active signatory-organizations in the world that endorses this initiative, fully supports the significant celebration of this day. Thus, all Chapters are strongly enjoined to participate by conducting any activities on Sustainable Development such as Webinar/Technical Lectures to/for our Members and the Community, weeklong hanging of the World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development – PICE streamer from March 1-7, 2021 in chapter offices and other locations in your respective area – to publish your activities through press releases, and to post to various social media platforms through a hashtag #WorldEngineeringDay2021.

The objectives of social media outreach include: to create an awareness of World Engineering Day as an important international day for achieving sustainable development by governments, civil society, industry and the public; to increase awareness of engineering, its impact on modern life and that it is crucial to advance the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals; to highlight the achievements of engineers and the essential role of engineers in promoting sustainable development; and to encourage more young people to consider engineering as a career.

The National Board of Directors will be holding a Webinar on Sustainable Development and will sponsor a virtual Thanksgiving Holy Mass with the Manila Cathedral on that very day of the celebration.
